About Us & Contact info
New World Truffieres specializes in the
cultivation of culinary truffles in North America and produces seedlings
inoculated with various truffle species that are now planted in orchards
across the U.S. We are dedicated to environmentally friendly horticultural
methods and believe that truffles offer a non-polluting, sustainable
and potentially lucrative alternative to many other forms of agriculture.
Founded
by Charles K. Lefevre, Ph.D. in 1999, New World Truffieres is located
in Oregon’s Willamette Valley near the city of Eugene. Western
Oregon is famous for its diversity and abundance of wild mushrooms and
truffles and has been a center of mycological research throughout the
past century. It is also the primary region for production of the Oregon
white and black truffles and has an ideal climate for the culinary truffles
of Europe. Dr. Lefevre specializes in the biology, ecology and cultivation
of edible ectomycorrhizal fungi, particularly matsutake and the culinary
truffles. He is also President of the
North American Truffling Society, a not-for-profit organization
dedicated to research and education on the diversity of native North
American Truffles.
Please feel free to contact New World Truffieres
or Dr. Lefevre for information on truffle cultivation in your area or
to purchase inoculated trees.
